Insanely inventive and obsessive, the Bascaille trio of Antoine Letourneau-Berger, Olivier Tremblay-Noel and Tom Jacques use a mix of traditional and world percussive devices, homemade instruments, objects and amplification to create works of contemporary art and percussion, using equal temperament, microtonality, noise music, improvisation, unison, and polyrhythms.

Bascaille is a percussion ensemble that stands at the crossroads of music, sound art, arts and crafts, and visual arts. It consists of Tom Jacques, Antoine Létourneau-Berger and Olivier Tremblay-Noël, all hailing from the Bas-Saint-Laurent region of Quebec. Bascaille's music varies according to the instrumentation selected for each work; it moves between equal temperament, microtonality, noise music, improvisation, unison, and polyrhythms.

The group draws musical ideas from various traditional music styles of the world, contemporary music currents, and Quebecois "musique actuelle." The trio is constantly working on new sound-making devices to create music that is not limited by the conventional instruments and ideas of classical percussions. They are constantly questioning and rethinking accepted techniques.

The ensemble's mission is to present contemporary art and percussion in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region, while presenting its music to the rest of Canada and the world. The ensemble is also keen on collaborations with artists and composers from all walks of life.
